Apasampradaya

Sampradaya - is a philosophical lineage
Apa - means to go down, away, or in the opposite direction.

The following are derived from the writings of Sri Kedarnath Datta Bhaktivinod, who attributes them to Sri Totaramdas babaji(prominent resident of Navadvipa in the early-mid 1800s ce). 12 "apasampradaya" are listed concerning the Gaudiya Sampradaya whom the above considered as apasampradaya withing the Gauriya sampradaya.

Some of them are generally applicable to any Sampradaya and noted below.

Karta-bhaja – those who worship the Guru as Ishvara, like Ishvara, or instead of Ishvara. (Karta = synonym for acharya in Bangla; Bhaja = worship)
Although Guru is representative of Ishvar, the Guru is not to be worshiped in the same way as Ishvara – as Guru is not Ishvara. This disease may happen(s) at any time in any sampradaya. A illustrious Guru may be followed by a less qualified ones who promote this. Or an materialistic Guru in a sampradaya may promote himself as such.

Jati-Gosai – Disciplic Succession by birth.
Guru by birth is to assume that anyone in a family line are automatically qualified. It is equivalent to becoming an Brahmana simply by birth rather than by Qualification.

Sahajiya = too watered down or easy path
Sahaj means easy or simple - applies when the teachings or practice of a sampradaya is considerably altered.
