Chambal - Region

Chambal Pradesh

The Chambal region centers around the - Chambal river. It is characterized by extensive Ravines, the extent not found elsewhere in Bharatavarsha. The surrounding terrain is very rocky/rugged - considerably more than the rest of the Central Uplands / Madhya Bharata Shailaprastha.
Ethno-linguistically it is a transition / mixed languages/peoples Region. Uttara Suraseni (Brajbasha) is spoken in the Northwest, Madhya Suraseni (Bundeli) in the East, Harauti (Rajasthani / Western Hindi) in the South Center and Malvi in the South.

Chambal Region - Geological Composition

The Map display program distorts "detailed polygons" - thus the River Ravines shapes are distorted - here is the original KML with undistorted Ravines shapes LINK (KML contents Copyright : Gehapati N Vidyarthi)

The ravines were the core defense mechanism of the successive Gvaliyar kingdoms for thousands of years, while the ravines have used by bandits in recent times.

While the Betwa river is the historical boundary between Gird and Bundelkhand, this presentation uses the Pahuj river as the extent of Chambal Pradesh.
