North-East India – Re-Organization Recommendations

Recommendations to the Central Government of India for Re-Organization of North-East India - based on Geological and Ethnic Reason

The ethnic strife in the North-East is due to various Peoples being ethnically displaced by political boundaries and Governmental Limitation or Indifference in State Re-Organization.

Recommendations for Re-Organization on this page would solve Most of the conflict and strife present in North-East India - while not creating 10 tiny new states, which is what is normally demanded and the reason nothing is being done about it.
Most groups demand " a Separate State" as that is the Fashion/Trend in North-East India, since the Naga, Mizo, and Khasi tribes having their own states. But that is not practical for all the smaller misplaced areas. Demands for separate state is also used as it holds more public voice than asking to be included in another state, besides the benefits of being a state.

These Re-Organization Recommendations Resolve the Needs-Not the Demands of the following Peoples, many having militant terrorist wings.

Nepali of Darjeeling Hills

Koch-Rajbongshi of the Koch Region (currently) in West Bengal
Bodo of Assam
Karbi of Assam
Dimasa of Assam

Naga of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam
Kuki-Mizo of Manipur
Meitei of Manipur

Bru-Reang of Mizoram

Read the "Technical" page before continuing. Nothing on this page is claimed to be Conclusive, nor as being the present official state boundaries or names of these States.
See individual pages for North East India on this site for Ethnic and Geological Details for these recommendations.

North-East India - Re-Organized States

The Outlines depicts the Main concerned States and their Area based on application of the Recommendations for Re-Organization.
The Map only the depicts the States being Expanded. It does not depict the States from which the expanded area is being taken from, ie the area of those states post Re-Organization.
The details of these Expansions/Adjustments are shown and explained with the second map of this page.

Ahom / Kacharikhand / Brahmaputra State - Extended, Adjusted
Includes the Koch Region of West Bengal State, Plains of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland; and Hills of Meghalaya State. Excludes the Barak Valley/Hills Region of Assam State.

Regarding the Name : Assam comes from Ahom - the name of the dominant kingdom during British times, after which the British styled the Region - Assam and the Language - Assamese. While the people have since used the terms Ahom and Ahomiya (and not Assam and Assamese, just like the Bangla of Bangal never use the words Bengal or Bengali) - "Ahom" does not represent the peoples as a whole. Kachari is the term used by these peoples as a whole, which has many subgroups - while people who call themselves Ahom (about 1/3% of the Population in the Outlined Area / 50% in the present Assam State) are merely Kachari whom were under the Ahom kingdom and thus stylized for several centuries, ie "a open status group". Thus the Kachari people comprise of 35 % the Kachari Sub-groups of the resent Assam state which use the suffix Kachari, 30 % the Koch-Rajbongshi-Kachari of present West Bengal state an 30% the Ahom - Kachari. Considering these details, a different name for such a state is more appropriate like Kacharikhand - land of the Kachari or Brahmaputra Pradesh after the most dominant feature of the Region which is the Brahmaputra river, one of the Biggest/Major Rivers on the planet. Either names would likely have an indigenous suffix.

Nagaland or Nagalim State - Extended, Adjusted
Includes Parts of Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh States inhabited by Naga Peoples. Excludes Plains in Nagaland State.
The Naga prefer the name Nagalim over Nagaland

Mizoram or Mizokuki State Extended, Adjusted
Includes part of Manipur State inhabited by the Kuki tribe a Mizo sub-tribe - both 100% Christian - unlike the Hindu Manipur Valley. Excludes areas of Mizoram state adjoining Tripura State with Mixed Bru-Reang Hindu - Mizo Christian inhabitation.

Manipur State - Adjusted
Includes the Manipur Valley, excludes the rest of Manipur State.
The Meitei People of the Manipur valley are Hindu (80%) and Tribal Religion(15%) while the tribes of the surrounding hills are Christian - Naga and Kuki-Mizo.
Should be kept a separate state or more practically due to its small size/Area - be part of a extended Tripura State, with as depicted in the map - the Highway as a territortial connection to Jiribam in Manipur state as a hub, which is part of the Tripura hills/plains system.

Sikkim State - Extended
Includes the Hills part of the Darjeeling district of West Bengal State.

12. Parts of Mizoram state which should be in Tripura State
Adjecent to tripura state and part of same hill system, with same Mizo and Reang peoples compostion on both sides of state borders - the difference is the Hindu Reang are prosecuted by the Christian Mizo, which are except for in this area the almost exclusive tribe of the Mizoram state.

13. Himalaya in West Bengal State which should be in a extended Sikkim state
The hills part of Darjeeling district is historically and ethnically part of Sikkim(an independent extension of Nepali peoples) - was given to British and ended up in West Bengal state.
