Meghalaya Hills - Region

The Meghalaya Hills are a Plateau/Hill system. The Khasi-Jaintia tribe group are situated on the plateau in the East, with the Garo and other Kachari tribes in the Lower Hills in the West.
The Khasi-Jaintia are of a Mon-Khmer origin(evident from old photos), distinct from the rest of North East Indian Tribes.
Meghalaya hills are mostly Christian since the British Era. Below uses 2011 census as a reference only, being based on earlier statistics as the 2011 census is considered as not the actual figures. Due to prosecution from the majority Christian, many do not put actual religion. Unlike the Naga and Mizo Hills, Meghalaya is not absolutely Christian.
